COURT — Terms of Service

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Welcome to COURT. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Konrad Maciejny, operating as COURT ("COURT", "we", "us") governing your use of the COURT mobile application (the "App"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use COURT. By using the App you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use the App.

2. Your account

You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Provide accurate information and keep it current. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. User content, conduct, and moderation

You're responsible for the content you create — profile details, reviews, ratings, court comments, and messages. You grant COURT a non-exclusive license to host and display it within the App to operate its features (e.g. showing your profile, the ratings you give and receive, and court activity). Your Elo, and the tier it implies, is shown to other users on your profile, game pages and match history unless you turn on Hide my Elo in Settings. With it on, players who play in the same game as you (you both check in to it, or you're both on a recorded score) can still see your Elo for that sport for 14 days after the game, a game's page can show a rounded average Elo of the players going, and public match history shows your results but not your Elo to people who can't see it. Leaderboards are opt-in: your leaderboard rank is shown only if you join them, and joining turns Hide my Elo off. You can change both anytime in Settings. Ratings are intended as honest peer feedback.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You may not post or send content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable, and you may not harass or abuse other users.

Reporting and blocking. You can report objectionable content and events, and block abusive users, from within the App. We review reports and remove violating content and/or the responsible users — typically within 24 hours. Repeat or serious violations may result in account termination. Report safety or content concerns in the App or to support@joincourt.app.

5. Pickup games, safety, and assumption of risk — important

COURT is a technology platform that helps you discover games, courts, and players. COURT does not organize, supervise, coach, vet, insure, or control games, courts, hosts, or other users, and is not a party to any game or to any arrangement between a host and an attendee.

Physical activity carries inherent risks — including serious injury or death. By participating in any game, meetup, or interaction arranged through the App you voluntarily assume all risks and agree that you are solely responsible for assessing your own fitness and the safety of any court or activity. Meet in public places and use common sense.

Release and covenant not to sue. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release, waive, and discharge COURT and its operators from, and agree not to sue them for, any claim, injury, death, damage, dispute, theft, or loss arising from or related to games, meetups, venues, hosts, or interactions with other users. You acknowledge that these risks are inherent to physical activity, are not created or controlled by COURT, and that COURT has no duty to provide supervision, coaching, first aid, security, or vetting. This release is intended to be as broad as the law allows; if any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect and your assumption of risk in this Section still applies.

6. Free launch version

COURT is free to use in this launch version. Paid-event entry, payment processing, host payouts, subscriptions, and in-app purchases are disabled. No platform or processing fees are charged by COURT. Any future paid features will require updated terms and clear pricing before you choose to use them.

7. Event changes and cancellations

Organizers may change or cancel meetups. Check the current event details before traveling. COURT does not guarantee attendance, court availability, or an event will occur. Follow venue rules and cancel your RSVP when you cannot attend.

8. Game records and commendations

Submit accurate scores and team selections. Confirm only results you played in; use the dispute flow for mistakes. Elo reflects confirmed results, while positive player commendations recognize skills separately. Rankings and badges are not professional credentials, safety guarantees, or prizes of monetary value.

9. Hosts: responsibilities and authority

If you host events, you represent and agree that:

10. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless COURT and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: your events; your use of the App; your violation of these Terms or any law; or your interactions with other users.

11. Location

You can browse courts manually without location permission. Verified check-in requires your location; optional background permission supports arrival alerts and automatic check-out. You can revoke permissions in device settings. See the Privacy Policy for details.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the service and its users. Delete your account through Settings → Delete account.

13. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that games will have enough players, that ratings are accurate, that any host or event is legitimate, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, COURT and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the App, participation in games. Our total liability for a claim relating to the free App will not exceed US $100, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs Section 16 (Dispute resolution). Subject to Section 16, any dispute not subject to arbitration will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.

16. Dispute resolution — arbitration and class-action waiver

Please read this Section carefully — it affects your legal rights.

Informal resolution first. Before starting an arbitration, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by emailing support@joincourt.app a written description of the claim and your contact details. You and COURT will try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days before either side may start an arbitration.

Binding arbitration. Except for the carve-outs below, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, the App will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, not in court, administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this Section. Arbitration will take place in Suffolk County, New York, or by videoconference/telephone at your election, or through document submission where permitted. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

Class-action and jury-trial waiver. You and COURT agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any class or representative proceeding. You and COURT waive any right to a jury trial. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, then that claim (and only that claim) will proceed in court rather than arbitration.

Carve-outs. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect its intellectual property or stop unauthorized use of the App.

30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration Section by emailing support@joincourt.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your name and that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.

Severability. If any part of this Section is found unenforceable (other than the class-action waiver, which is governed above), the remainder stays in effect.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date and highlight material changes in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
