COURT — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Konrad Maciejny, operating as COURT ("we", "us"), operates the COURT mobile application (the "App"), which helps people find and join pickup sports games at nearby parks and courts. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. It describes our practices; optional device permissions remain your choice.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address (for authentication) and the profile details you provide: username, display name, optional bio, city, profile photo, and the sports you play. Optionally, you may add your birth year (used to show your age), height, and weight; these appear on your profile only while you keep them visible — you can hide them anytime in Edit Profile.

Location. With your permission, we use your device's approximate and precise location to find nearby courts, show nearby games, and create check-ins (which require you to be physically at the court). If you turn on Arrival alerts, COURT uses optional background permission for arrival notifications. While checked in, this permission also allows geofence exit/re-entry events to trigger fresh location verification with our server and automatic check-out. We store the selected court and verification/session timestamps, not a continuous GPS trail. Other players can see which court you check into and your visible court activity; the app does not publish your device GPS coordinates. You can revoke background permission in your device settings.

Contacts & phone discovery (optional). If you opt in to "Be findable by phone," we store a salted, one-way hash of your phone number — never the number itself — so friends who already have your number can find you. If you grant contacts access, the phone numbers in your contacts are hashed on your device and matched against those hashes to suggest people you may know; your raw contacts are never uploaded or stored.

Activity & social data. We store your check-ins, sessions, reported game scores and confirmations, resulting per-sport Elo, sportsmanship feedback, player commendations, friendships, achievements, referral activity, events you create or join, direct and group messages, court comments, and park reviews (star rating, optional written review and park details). Some of this (profile, sportsmanship ratings, badges, events, court comments, park reviews) is visible to other users by design. Park reviews, including the reviewer's username and the review text, are also shown publicly on joincourt.app; your name, photo and email are not. Your per-sport Elo, and the tier it implies, is shown to other users on your profile, game pages and match history, like a level in a game, unless you turn on Hide my Elo. If you hide it, players who play in the same game as you (you both check in to it, or you're both on a recorded score) can still see your Elo for that sport for 14 days after the game, and a game's page can show the average Elo of the players going, rounded so no one player's Elo can be worked out. Leaderboards are opt-in: your name, photo, Elo, rank and Challenger status appear on COURT leaderboards and rank lists only if you choose to join them. Profile match history is private by default; you can make it public. Public match history shows your results, but not your Elo, to people who can't see your Elo. Game participants and organizers retain access to results for games they share.

Device & push tokens. If you enable notifications we store a push notification token to deliver alerts (e.g. when players join a court you're interested in).

Payments. This launch version is free. Paid-event features are disabled and the app does not collect payment details.

Usage measurement. We calculate aggregate registration, verified-play, confirmed-game, and return-play counts from existing account and game records to understand usage and improve the App. Separate third-party product analytics and crash-reporting integrations are disabled in this launch version.

Newsletter (website). If you sign up for our newsletter on joincourt.app, we store your email address, when and on which page you signed up, and a scrambled code made from your IP address that changes daily and is used only to block spam signups. The newsletter is separate from the App: signing up doesn't create an account, and deleting your account doesn't unsubscribe you.

Website visitors. The COURT website does not use cookies and has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and visiting it does not require an account. The court map and the events list load data from our servers (Supabase), map tiles from OpenStreetMap, and the map's code libraries from the jsDelivr content delivery network, so your IP address and browser information reach those services when you open those pages. If you tap "Courts near me" (or you have already allowed location for this site), your browser uses your location to center the map; that location is used only inside your browser and is not sent to us. Our host, Vercel, keeps ordinary request logs.

2. How we use information

We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising or tracking across other companies' apps and websites.

3. Sharing

We share information with service providers that run our infrastructure, including Supabase for authentication, database and storage; Expo and Apple for push delivery; Vercel for this website; OpenStreetMap, which serves the map images on the website's court map; and jsDelivr, which serves the map's code libraries. These providers process data needed to deliver their services. Website requests can include IP address, browser information, and operational request logs. The launch version does not send data to payment or separate product-analytics/crash-reporting vendors. If we use an email delivery service to send the newsletter, it receives the addresses needed to deliver it. We may disclose information if required by law.

4. Your choices and rights

5. Data retention

Court comments are automatically and permanently deleted after 7 days. Other data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period.

6. Children

COURT is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, and database row-level security) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.

8. Changes

We'll update this policy as the App evolves and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.

9. Contact

Questions or requests: privacy@joincourt.app. You can also reach the operator at courtappofficial@gmail.com. Never send passwords or verification codes.
